New View Synthesis with Non-stationary Mosaicing

چکیده
Practically all image rendering methods today use the perspective projection, or try to approximate it. We develop a new image-based rendering approach which is based on a new projection model – the Crossed-Slits X-Slits projection. The model is obtained by relaxing the requirement that all projection rays intersect at a single point (the focal-point). Instead, projection rays are required by definition to intersect two curves in space. Image based rendering of X-Slits images is very simple, and is performed by non-stationary mosaicing from a sequence of images captured by a translating pinhole camera. The generated mosaic images are closer to perspective images than traditional pushbroom mosaics. Rendering of virtual walkthroughs can therefore be done merely by using non-stationary mosaicing, without using any 3D model.

Overcoming Parallax and Sampling Density Issues in Image Mosaicing of Non-Planar Scenes
Image mosaicing constructs a wide field-of-view result from multiple source frames. In order to ensure a perceptually correct result, mosaicing typically requires either a planar or near-planar scene, parallax-free camera motion between source frames, or a dense sampling of the scene. When these conditions are not satisfied, various artifacts may result. A novel mosaicing approach is introduced...
متن کاملA new adaptive exponential smoothing method for non-stationary time series with level shifts
Simple exponential smoothing (SES) methods are the most commonly used methods in forecasting and time series analysis. However, they are generally insensitive to non-stationary structural events such as level shifts, ramp shifts, and spikes or impulses. Similar to that of outliers in stationary time series, these non-stationary events will lead to increased level of errors in the forecasting pr...
متن کاملAdding Dynamic Smoothing to Mixture Mosaicing Synthesis
Recent works in sound mosaicing synthesis [1], [2] have proposed algorithms that permit instantaneous mixtures of several sources atoms, based on sparse signal representation techniques. We propose combining l1 regularization with linear dynamical smoothing as in the Kalman filter (also in [3], [4]) to promote desired transitions between atoms, while adapting the generic approach to the mixture...
متن کاملFlexible Image Blending for Image Mosaicing with Reduced Artifacts
Image mosaicing involves geometric alignment among video frames and image compositing or blending. For dynamic mosaicing, image mosaics are constructed dynamically along with incoming video frames. Consequently, dynamic mosaicing demands efficient operations for both alignment and blending in order to achieve real-time performance. In this paper, we focus on efficient image blending methods tha...
متن کاملImproving the Tracking Error Signal Extraction in IR Seeker with Stationary Wagon Wheel Reticle over all Field of View
The accuracy of target position detection in IR seeker depends on the accuracy of tracking error signal (TES) extraction from seeker Field of View (FOV). The type of reticle inside the seeker determines the output modulation signal that carries the TES. In this paper, the stationary wagon wheel reticle is used, which makes the type of the output signal as FM modulation in the linear region of F...
